What does the bible say about how long a believer can live?
Sorry, I don’t think this question is fully resolve. Some have quote that the bible is clear, 80 years only…. (Psa 90:10 The years of our life are seventy, or even by reason of strength eighty; yet their span is but toil and trouble; they are soon gone, and we fly away).
Some say 120 years only. And this group will quote Gen 6:3 And the Lord said, My spirit will not be in man for ever, for he is only flesh; so the days of his life will be a hundred and twenty years.
If you do a search, you will find a lot of examples where people live longer than 120 years old. Does not that make our bible inaccurate?
What Believers can take home? 80 Years old? 120 years old?
Genesis 6:3 that God was going to wipe out wicked mankind off the face of the earth in 120 years by the deluge.
(Genesis 6:3) After that Jehovah said: “My spirit shall not act toward man indefinitely in that he is also flesh. Accordingly his days shall amount to a hundred and twenty years.”
Psalm 90:10 really states that because humans are imperfect they will eventually have to die. (1 Cor 15:20-22) This is because of sin they have inherited from Adam and Eve.
(Psalm 90:10) . . .In themselves the days of our years are seventy years; And if because of special mightiness they are eighty years, Yet their insistence is on trouble and hurtful things; For it must quickly pass by, and away we fly.
Only until God’s kingdom that will reign over the earth will humans again have perfection restored and death done away with by means of the ransom sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 15: 20-28
