Bible Promises for You

Did you know that there are great promises in the Bible about how much GOD loves you? These promises are still in effect and can be applied to your life today! Many people are seeking to fill their need for love and looking for it all types of places. Sometimes the type of love they find is short lived and comes with a high price.

I remember an old detective TV show called Kojak where the main character would playfully slap his subordinate and ask, ‘Who loves you baby?” This would occur whenever Kojak did something great or made some type of heroic gesture that benefited the case they were trying to solve. To Kojak, the fact that something good occurred translated into love’s reward. Kojak expected those around him to acknowledge their good fortune and applaud his benevolence towards them. This type of love requires constant recognition.

Another story I remember about love is the tale of the thin line between love and hate. It describes a love so passionate and romantic that the beneficiary will gain untold advantages as long as the love is reciprocated. If it is unrequited, the affection and tenderness once held by the lover turns cruel and dangerous. It is possessive and selfish as it vows to the recipient’s detriment, “If I can’t have you, nobody else will!”

We can all think of the love that starts with physical attraction or fascination of extraordinary accomplishments. Many famous artist and athletes have stories to tell of those who loved them while they were on top, but those same people kicked them to the curve after their initial attraction waned. The looks began to fade and so did the love. Or the voice changed ending the number of hits and the fans moved on. Again, this type of selfish love is not really love at all.

The Bible says that love is kind and patient, never jealous, boastful, proud, or rude. Love isn’t selfish or quick tempered. It doesn’t keep a record of wrongs that others do. Love rejoices in the truth, but not in evil. Love is always supportive, loyal, hopeful, and trusting. Love never fails! (1 Corinthians 13:4-7, CEV)

It should not take a slap in the face for us to recognize GOD’S true and unselfish love towards humanity. GOD is the very essence love and love is the powerful force that creates the good things in life. There are love promises in the Bible that people can hold on to while navigating through every situation or circumstance that he or she encounters.

*Promise number 1 is GOD loves you so much that HE gave HIS SON for you!

“For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16, NLT)

*The second promise is that GOD will never leave you!

… for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!] Hebrew 13:5b, Amplified

*The third promise is that nothing will ever separate you from GOD’S love!

Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death?… And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow-not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below-indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:35-39, NLT

GOD loves you so much that HE only wants the very best for your life. When hurtful or disappointing things happen to you, never think that somehow you lost GOD’S love. Never despair because these promises assure you are loved eternally!
