Were certain words in our English Bibles (Most expecially KJV) changed in the course of history?
Is it possible that during the ages past certain words in the bible were delibrately altered?E.g we know for a fact the words were actually created for those found in the Hebrews/Greek text but not ably accommodated or found in English.However,what I am wondering is if certain words in their meanings (or many words) were altered.E.g could the word faith have meant something else other than what we take it for today?Or could other words like Joy, bread, wine, flesh have meant other things rather than what we take them for in todays vocabulary?
Actually, its more than possible, its more likely that this occurred. When John Wycliffe aided in the first full translation of the bible, the words in English did not fully translate out from the Latin. So to supplement these words, it is most likely that the Wycliffite translators did indeed put words in that they thought was the correct translation (not to mention change phrases to suit their own religious and political agendas). We must also remember, that the KJV is a combination of many English translations including the Wycliffite bible. So it is likely that King James’ translators and compilers altered many words and phrases.
