Roman Catholic Bible Versions

Did King James remove certain books from the original King James Version of the Bible, 1611?

Got this from a response to a question i asked:
“Believe it or not, the original King James Version of the Bible, 1611, had the same list (canon) of 80 books as the Douai-Rheims version used by the Roman Catholic Church at that time. King James insisted on the removal of certain books because they went against the desires of the Church of England for morality (i.e. divorce and remarriage) and beliefs (i.e. purgatory). ”

Of course. The bible has been copied, recopied, translated changed, added to subtracted from all thru history until approx the last big change in 1612, (actually) It is at best a conglomeration of writings of barely literate people unknown to us and mostly to each other…. remember that the middle east was just as chaotic then as it is now… crowded, dirty, and one tribe fighting for survival over another…….and if you do some research, you will find that the gospels of St. Philip, Judas, and St. Thomas are not there (but look for them in google anyway..)…. the last one really embarrassing to christians, in that jesus transformed his playmates into goats, mud into sparrows, and in one account refused to bring back to life a playmate he killed.

If you’re interested is a great book on religious discussion, try The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins…. number 8 last week on the NY Times Best Seller list.
